I received my PhD at Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington working with Professor Steve Seitz in June 2016. My research interests include 3D Reconstruction, Big Visual Data, Computational Photography and Virtual Reality. In my thesis I analyze millions of publicly available Internet photos from websites like Flickr, Panoramio or Instagram to discover new insights and visualize temporal trends in the data at planet scale.

News: I will join Google's Virtual Reality team in Seattle this fall!

I come from Madrid, Spain and obtained a BSc. in Mathematics and a BEng. in Computer Engineering at Universidad Politécnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona in 2010 with the support of Centro de Formación Interdisciplinaria Superior (CFIS) for the double degree studies. During my undergraduate education I had several research appointments at Institut de Robòtica i Inform├ática Industrial (IRI) under Juan Andrade Cetto. In 2010 I received the "La Caixa" fellowship to pursue a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Washington.

In the past I've done internships at Google's Virtual Reality team prototyping VR cameras, Google's 3D Geo team analyzing the world's photos to create visualizations and time-lapses of places, at Google's Image Search team building image classification systems using visual-semantic embeddings and deep learning, at Microsoft Research Communication and Collaboration Systems group building a real-time 3D reconstruction system using several Kinects and IR/RGB camera pairs and at Google's Search Quality trying to understand the intent behind search queries better.
