Down to the stables where under the maples I sat down on the
lawn.
Well I laid down my head then I closed my eyes.
When I awoke it was much to my surprise.
The pig was playing guitar and the horse was on the bass.
A simple rhythm they locked together and they sure did rock the
place.
The pig he picked up on another and the horse just played
along.
The chicken choked on the maracas the cow was on the drums.
Well the lamb was just a jammin' fool and the dog he rocked the
night.
The cow kept the beat and the chicken on his feet and me?
. . . well, I feel all right.
Well the rooster started singin' and the ducks were hummin' along.
When they put the sweet sound together you know it couldn't be
wrong.
The strangest thing was yet to happen that I'd seen in my life.
The potatoes and the cabbage they started rappin' and the pig?
. . . well, he rocked the night.
. . . And I feel all right!
Lost and Found
Lost and found in the morning light
I'll spy those just to lend their time.
A cool light rain and the morning claims
a brighter life than the evening's reign.
If you see the irony
burning brightly inside me
Hide your face and hide your fear
this day's like the other year.
Lost and found on a windswept field
counting days within a year.
The fall sprang up and the spring fell low
where it stops, I don't know.
A winter breeze, a summer freeze
the wind is blowing through the trees.
Catch that wind, catch that wave
this year's like another day.
A Thousand Dreams
. . . It goes on down like falling rain.
The tears you cry they're all the same
maybe you'll wake up and look
to the mountains or farther.
Your emptiness grows like the wind.
Won't you come back again?
I see the friendships fading
our natural mothers disgraced.
I laugh at the irony, but I see
it's all the same.
I saw a thousand dreams today.
On either sunny day or a rainy day.
It was a crazy dream on a lazy day.
It was a lazy dream on a crazy day.
And the sky tumbled to the sea.
The winds took their hold of me.
On the Run
Some say I'm crazy.
I've been that way for so long.
And I say that life is insane.
My urges they are so strong.
But maybe I will follow
maybe I'll come along.
Maybe I'll listen
while we're on the run.
I'm runnin' from society.
Please don't you put me down.
You can't stop me
or anyone who's around.
Oh, Mamma, don't trade me
for another son.
I am . . . I am me.
I've been me all along.
Oh, Mamma, please don't trade me
for another son . . . .
Church Mouse
Once in a while I look in the mirror
of a time once long ago.
When sleepy visions that seemly streak
a tear falls towards the void.
I am here sitting all by myself
in a room of unearthly calm.
A mouse he is running on the mantle shelf
and he speaks with a freefalling tone.
What you are means such a lot to me.
Excuse me I'm just passing through.
Wait a minute, mister, before you go
there is something I'd like to say.
I didn't get a chance to wish you goodbye
or at least have a very good day.
What you are means such a lot to me.
Excuse me I'm just passing through.
The mouse turned around and he smiled at me:
"Yes perhaps we could break down someday."
The lesson it seems is don't be afraid.
Your fears are your only slave.
. . . Your fears are your only slave.
Behind You
What you said contains a story
about girls and times of crime.
Deceive the friendship I gave
now there is none.
What is it that I've said of you?
What have I done to deserve this?
My harmony is perished.
Moisture melts from your body.
Wash away all the candor.
Deceit remains to persuade.
Is this what you have lived for?
Conceive a picture of the truth
where all is pure and sentimental.
Honesty prevails, but not in you.
. . . no, not in you.
So shut the door behind you
my companion no longer.
Shut the door . . . behind you.
Matteo's Song
I see you running
down by the shore line.
I hear your echo
deep in the sunshine.
Can you share with me
all of your years?
And I'll share with you
all of my fears.
And we dabbled with death
at an early age.
Sitting back
by the pearly gates.
Looking around
for some kind of luck.
But what the hell
have you got?
I see you falling
down by the shoreline
I hear you singing
brightly of sunshine.
Can you share with me
all of your years?
And I'll share with you
all of my fears.
I'd thought you'd go . . .
(but) for a while.
"Do you remember me???"
