Poison Elves Promo
From 1991 through 1995, Drew Hayes had been publishing Poison
Elves virtually unknown. At some point in late 1994, he announced
a contest in order to generate more interest in Poison Elves,
which basically involved promoting it in any way possible. I had this
vision of plastering Seattle with flyers, and sat down at the xerox
machine one night with a stack of comics and a bottle of white-out.
The result was an eight-page mini-comic using Drew's artwork from the
comic and my words. After distributing the promo to a number of comic
shops, I decided put it on the web to make it even more accessible.
Since then of course, he's moved to Sirius Entertainment, Inc., become
big and famous and has little need of web sites or promos, but
hey...
If you're a fan of black-and-white comics and don't read Poison
Elves, I highly recommend that you check it out.
Oh yeah, his lettering is better than mine, so don't let that stop you
from taking the dive...
