CSE Curriculum Revision: Working Documents
Everything on this page should be considered a draft and a set of
working documents. Nothing has been formally approved or set in
stone. There is a lot of background that cannot be concisely
summarized here. If you have concerns or comments, the committee
would be happy to hear them -- especially suggestions for improvements. Before
"this happens", we will get all the feedback we can from
the faculty and students.
We envision several optional courses in the 3xx core, some number of
which could count toward credit in the major. The number of required
courses decreases and is slightly different for CS and CE. We
envision no longer requiring STAT390/391 for all CSE majors.
Detailed course descriptions:
Required of all CSE majors:
Required of CS majors and the CE Software Specialization; optional for
the Hardware Specialization:
Required of CE majors; optional for CS majors:
Required of CE Hardware Specialization; optional for others:
Optional for all CSE majors:
Here is a picture [OUTDATED FROM MAY BUT NOT TOO FAR OFF] showing
how the courses fit together. We expect "non-required"
courses would all have a large/majority enrollment. Also note that
"requirements" should always be adjusted to meet individual
needs/interests where appropriate.
