UW & GRAIL Information

  Introduction

This page contains information useful to people who work in GRAIL, UW's computer graphics lab.
  WebTips

A collection of tips & techniques for GRAIL users.
  • Kodak 8670 dye-sub printer
Given the 8.5" by 11.0" paper we have in stock for this printer, the maximum printable area is 8.0" by 8.93".

For the sake of comparison, the HP laser printer "ps4ws" in the 4th floor printer closet has a maximum printable area of about 8.25" by 10.75".

If you are planning to print parts of your document using the Kodak 8670, please adjust your document's margins appropriately, or some of your page's content will be cut off. (I've got printed examples in my office if you care to see them.)

Text printed on the dye-sub looks awful, too, but that's another issue altogether.
  Machine List

I'm responsible for computers in Sieg Hall and the LA2 lab over in the Communications Building. A list of these machines is available, but only internally. It's more for my use than public consumption; there should be a "public" list made available soon.
