I am interested in building robot foundation models that can reason about the physical world, not just pattern-match within it. I am currently excited about the utilization of internet-scale video data for robotics. While video provides the most accessible resource for training generalist robots, it inherently suffers from the loss of valuable depth information required for robust manipulation. My goal is to determine how we can leverage these abundant 2D representations to learn effective 3D physical reasoning, enabling robots to understand the geometry of the world they act upon rather than relying on brittle assumptions derived strictly from 2D images.
I am an undergraduate student researcher in the Washington Embodied Intelligence and Robotics Development Lab (WEIRD Lab) at the University of Washington, advised by Prof. Abhishek Gupta.
