Welcome to Sherry Tongshuang Wu (吴彤霜)'s webpage! I am a Computer Science student at the University of Washington (UW-Seattle). My co-advisors are Jeffrey Heer from the Interactive Data Lab and Dan Weld from the CrowdLab. I received my B.Eng from the Hong Kong university of Science and Technology (HKUST), majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. During my undergraduate studies, I was a member of the VisLab and supervised by Prof. Huamin Qu.
I am particularly interested in Interactive Machine Learning, Human Computer Interaction, and Visualization. Currently, my work focus on (1) visualizing machine learning models to convey bigger pictures of the machine learning model behavior (visual error analysis), and (2) crowdsourcing human intelligence to disambiguate concepts in machine learning (uncertainties in labeled dataset, mismatches in encoders).
I believe the symbiotic relationship between humans and machines is essential: by leveraging the computational capabilities of machines and the cognitive powers of humans, we will be able to help provide answers to a problem that are intractable to either humans or machines alone in isolation.
