Regarded with contempt by Luse and as being a goody-goody by Tenth (14). Jace's former commander, and therefore a source of tension for Lusiphur (17).

- a small town dead in the middle of the Pathwan Swamps known for its bad weather and hospitality (1). Laid to waste by Six-Tell Amlah, excepting the mental institution (2). It was rumored to have been destroyed by the gods (4). Rebuilt by its survivors and now consisting of three houses, a tavern, a barn, and a large whisky still. Produces Cantaloupe Whiskey, which has made its denizens rich (18).

- the Jones' maid. Love interest of Earl Jones (10). Had no younger sister (12).

- the homeless vagrant that saw Luse take out Dendrin's gang of thieves and threaten Dendrin (16).

- Luse is one (13). Formerly employed as such by Lord Garn. Tenth associates assassins with the phrase Red Horse, Black Horse (13). Ghost is a dwarven Assassin (18). Talon, Lester, and Cassandra are Assassins for Sanctuary (2,7).
